North Dakota Oil Jobs
70
There is an oil boom going on in North Dakota.
As you read these words there are dozens of oil companies, and countless oil related industries looking to employ good, hardworking men and woman.
The work is hard and the hours are long but the pay is above average and the benefits are too.
So why, in these tough economic times, have so few people heard about all the North Dakota oil jobs?
And even more importantly, how does one go about applying for and getting one of these oil jobs?
Why Have I Never Heard About All These Jobs In North Dakota?
Most of the oil in North Dakota is found in the Bakken Formation, a rock unit spanning over 200,000 square miles in parts of Montana, North Dakota, and Canada.
Oil was discovered in the Bakken in 1951 but until recently attempts to harvest this oil more often that not met with extreme difficulties. Recent technology has made the producing of the oil in the Bakken Formation much easier.
So why isn't everyone talking about all this oil right in our own borders in North Dakota? Well, for one thing while the Bakken does hold large amounts of oil it does not contain enough to ween America off foreign oil. And therefore it's not really that big a story in the news.
Also let's be honest, North Dakota isn't really a hot spot of interest in the news. When was the last time you saw anything about North Dakota on the evening news?
How Can I Find Out More Information About These Oil Jobs In North Dakota

I'm really wanting to get up there. I was exp. in industrial construction, piledriving, pipe fabrication, boilermaker. Any Leeds you can send my way?
I'm also interested in going.
I think I have applied for over a hundred different jobs and still have not eard anything. I was told they were shut down over the Holidays so may be the end of this week!! Going to get my CDL too, never needed it for helping friends in the fields but I suppose I better get it now. Any leads on jobs would be great!
Many people want to go but don't know how to go about it. I have created a great resource for this at www.northdakotaopportunity.com

Excellent hub. As for whether or not the Bakken contains enough oil to free us from the foreign stuff, though...there's some evidence that it DOES contain enough to do the job. Some websites (Snopes is one) say that's pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking, but other recent reports appear to indicate the reserve is truly huge.
In addition, the yet-to-be-proven Three Forks formation lies directely beneath the Bakken. Some wells are currently being drilled into BOTH formations at the same time with an eye toward finding out what the Three Forks might have to add to the equation.
One other thought, since this page is specifically about jobs: If you're thinking of heading to the patch in North Dakota (or anywhere else, for that matter), it's not a bad idea to take a look at the service contractors.
Ah...gives me a hub idea...:)
